A bar tab where the host pays only for the drinks actually consumed, with no pre-set package.
With a consumption bar, the host sets a dollar limit and pays for only what guests drink, up to that amount. Once the tab limit is reached, the bar either closes or switches to a cash bar. Consumption bars are a practical way to provide drinks without the risk of over-committing to a package that may not be fully utilised. They require the venue to track consumption accurately and notify the host before the limit is exceeded.
