A quick technical check of each audio input to confirm it is connected and functioning before a full sound check.
A line check is faster and less detailed than a full sound check. It verifies that every microphone, DI box, and audio source is patched correctly and producing a signal at the mixing desk. Line checks are used when time is limited or when the full talent is not yet on site. They are typically performed by the sound engineer working from channel to channel at the mixing desk.
