The person who calls cues and manages the backstage area during a live event, coordinating all on-stage activity.
The stage manager is the eyes and ears of the show during the live event. Using a headset, they communicate with all departments — sound, lighting, video, and presentation teams — calling cues at precisely the right moment. They also manage backstage logistics: briefing speakers before they go on, coordinating presenter changes, and managing emergency protocols. The stage manager works directly from the run sheet or run of show.
